Madeleine Oudin
Tiampo Family Assistant Professor of Biomedical Engineering Tufts University
Madeleine completed a BSc in Biochemistry at McGill University, a PhD in Neuroscience from King’s College London, UK and post-doctoral training in cancer research at MIT. She started her independent lab at Tufts University in 2018 focused on studying mechanisms of cancer metastasis and drug resistance. The diagnosis of Madeleine’s daughter with SCN8A encephalopathy in 2021 has led to a new research area in the lab, investigating how alternative splicing of sodium channels impacts neuronal function and the development of epilepsy, with the goal of developing new therapies for the treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders, such as those caused by mutations in SCN8A. Madeleine is also a board member of the SCN8A Alliance.
