I’m a Medical Doctor with specialization in Neurology. After my degree in Medicine, I completed my specialization in Neurology at a universital hospital in Milano, and, immediately after the specialization, I started to work as a neurologist in the Epilepsy and Sleep Medicine Center of the same hospital, where I remained for 7 years and I reached a very good experience in epilepsy and sleep medicine. Since 2 years I’m living in Denmark together with my danish husband and our son. Since December 2020 I started to work on a research project about genotype-phenotype relationship in SCN8A-related disorders at the Danish Epilepsy Center. In April 2021 I started my PhD at University of Southern Denmark and at the Danish Epilepsy Centre and I’m continuing to work on research projects about epilepsy and genetics. In particular I’m working on SCN8A and STXBP1 genes with a main focus on the deep phenotyping of these disorders and their correlation with the genotype. Last year I established a very large SCN8A database worldwide including data of about 700 individuals, collected through direct contact with the families from other countries all over the world and with their HCPs.
